THE TANZANIAN TREAT

 

DAY 1:  Arrival Arusha     D

Upon your arrival to Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by our company representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. A short introduction meeting will be followed by dinner. Overnight at Mt. Meru Hotel.

 

DAY 2:  Arusha-Serengeti     B/L/D

Early morning wake up. After breakfast transfer to the airport to board your flight to Serengeti National Park where a guide and 4 x 4 safari vehicle will be waiting.  Enjoy your first luxury game drive on the way to Chaka camp. Buffet lunch on the plains or a delicious lunch in camp.

Chaka Camp is a semi-permanent camp located in the Serengeti ecosystem. With just ten tents, Chaka, meaning ‘bush’ in Swahili, offers an authentic and intimate bush experience in the middle of the Serengeti wilderness. Chaka Camp follows the wildebeest migration, covering hundreds of kilometers as it moves seasonally around the Serengeti.

You will enjoy snacks around the roaring fire each evening, swapping stories of your day as the sun sets, listening to the hyenas and lions in the distance. A sumptious candlelight dinner and fine wine is the ideal way to end a beautiful day in the magical Serengeti. Retire to wonderfully cosy tents with en suite bathrooms and warm duvets as Massai guards watch over the camp as it slumbers through the night.

 

DAY 3-5:  Serengeti     B/L/D

OPTIONAL: Maybe choose an unforgetable morning balloon trip over the Serengeti, followed by a champagne breakfast on the open Savannah.Each day will be a whole new experience. The driver guide will know where the best places are to follow and watch the game as it unfolds. Just relax and take in the unique beauty of the place.

Ice cold drinks watching the sun sink below the horizon, the final glow of another incredible day on the Serengeti plains.

 

DAY 5: Serengeti-Dar es Salaam     B/L 

After a leisurely breakfast the driver guide will take you to the airstrip for your flight to Dar es Salaam. On landing, a vehicle and driver will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to the hotel. Dinner on your own in Tanzania's capital city. Overnight at Southern Sun Hotel, Dar es Salaam.

 

DAY 6: Dar es Salaam-Lupita Island     B/L/D

Wake up very early and depart from the hotel at 5 am to arrive at Dar es Salaam airport ready for the Fast Jet flight to Mbeya, departing at 7.30am. Landing at Mbeya airport at 8.35, a personal driver will be waiting to drive you onward to Lupita Island.

An approximately 7 hour journey through interesting African countryside, lush, fertile landscapes, paddy fields and mountains with vast forests. Catch a glimpse of the true culture of Tanzania. Driving through villages on some brand new tarmac roads, some dirt roads, practically empty of other vehicles. Through mountains and rocky terrain, through bush and forest. See areas very rarely seen by other tourists. Lunch along the way with ice cold drinks and snacks.

Arrive at the shores of Lake Tanganyika around 5pm where the manager will be waiting to take you on the short, 10 minute boat ride to Lupita Island and a golf cart ride to the main area.

 

DAY 7-10: Lupita Island     B/L/D

Lupita Island rises up out of the pristine sapphire waters of historic Lake Tanganyika in the remote southwestern region of Tanzania. The island is prehistorically lush, incredibly romantic and extraordinarily private. Many will visit the Serengeti, but very few will ever reach the shores of this magnificent lake, the second deepest on earth at an estimated 4,500ft (1370meters).

On 130 acres of privacy feel free to rediscover the inner self, lie on the island beach, join us for a fully catered buffet on a deserted beach we reach by boat. Enjoy a spectacular sunset cruise with cocktails and snacks and swim in a mile of water.

Each breathtaking 1800 sq. ft. (approx. 165 sq.m)villa is one of just 10 sumptuous open-air suites perched high on the hillside, delivering peace and ultra-comfort. Our traditional luxury will be most welcome after your time in the bush. Relax under our rock waterfall showers,  walls open to nature, life’s stresses simply melt away.

Wade into your personal plunge pool, while enjoying an uninterrupted view of Africa’s second largest lake. Laze by the main pool and order a favourite cocktail with a good book from our library. Visit the spa, or have a private massage, cruise and observe the most spectacular sunsets.   Wind down the day with  petal-strewn bubble bath and chilled champagne right on your deck.  Visit a local fishing village, unchanged for centuries. Water-sports and nature walks are a preface to fine dining, exotic spa treatments and blissful evenings under the stars in your open-air bedroom.

 

DAY 10: Lupita Island-Dar es Salaam     B/L

Early morning departure with the driver and 4 x 4 vehicle back to Mbeya to catch the flight to Dar es Salaam and your onward flight home
