WILD AND MILD TANZANIA

 

Day 1: -Arrival Dar es Salaam     D

Meet and greet at Dar es Salaam airport and transfer to hotel in Tanzania's largest  city. After some time to relax we will have an orientation meeting, followed by dinner. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 2-Dar es Salaam-Ruaha NP     B/L/D

Early wake up and breakfast at hotel. We will drive through this bustling city to the airport where we'll board our small plane for a short flight to Ruaha NP. The drive to the lodge will give us the first glimpse of the stunningly beautiful landscape and, if we're lucky, some wildlife as well.

Check-in to the lodge and enjoy lunch, relax. Late afternoon and evening is the time when all kinds of different creatures emerge from their daytime hideouts so we'll go for an afternoon game drive.

Return to lodge at dusk, prepare for dinner and enjoy the african wilderness. Dinner and overnight at lodge.

 

Day 3-Ruaha NP     B/L/D

Ruaha NP is the largest NP in Tanzania but still remote and wild. Prolific game, extraordinary birdlife and diverse vegetation meet against a dramatic topographical backdrop: endless rolling hills, vast open plains, secret groves of ancient baobabs and, along the park’s southern border, the Great Ruaha River. Large populations of all the great predators are present in the park. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas and wild dogs are all sighted. Large mammals that roam the park include the largest population of elephants in Tanzania, with estimated numbers as of 2013 standing at over 20,000 individuals. Species commonly sighted in the park include buffalos, zebras, impalas, giraffes, elands, greater and lesser kudus and warthogs, all thriving along the Great Ruaha River.

Wake up at sunrise, enjoy a coffee or tea and hop in our vehicles for a morning game drive with a bush breakfast.  We can enjoy lunch in the bush or return to the lodge for some relaxation. After game drive return to lodge for dinner. Overnight at lodge.

Day 4-Ruaha NP-Selous Game Reserve     B/L/D

Another sunrise wake up and take advantage of our last hours in this incredible place. Breakfast in the bush will be a nice break before we end out game drive at the airstrip. Board the plane and hop over to Selous Game Reserve where we'll first head to the lodge for check-in and lunch. A great meal will boost our energy levels so we're ready for an evening adventure,a game drive in this famous Game Reserve. Return to lodge for dinner. Overnight at lodge.

 

Day 5-Selous Game Reserve     B/L/D

The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wet wilderness area in Africa, covering a total area of 54,600 km2 (21,081 sq. miles), almost 6% of Tanzania’s land surface. The Selous is four times the size of the Serengeti. A large area of the reserve is drained by the Rufiji River. In 1982 it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the diversity of its wildlife and undisturbed nature. It’s a unique environment rich in water, channels and lakes. Abundant with wildlife and little visited by tourist, compared to northern parks. The Selous is also the biggest stronghold for wild dogs in Africa and surely one of the places where you would have more chances to spot them!

Another glorious day is awaiting so we'll have a quick wake up coffee, a biscuit, and get on our way to explore this unique area. As usual we'll enjoy breakfast in the bush and afterwards contiunue to be awed. Lunchi in bush or at lodge. Afternoon game drive and return to lodge for dinner. Overnight at lodge.

 

Day 6-Selous Game Reserve-Fanjove Private Island     B/L/D

Our last sunrise in the african wilderness enjoying breakfast at the lodge. On the way to the airstrip we'll take in the last sights and sounds of Selous Game Reserve.  After about 2 hrs of admiring Tanzania from the air we'll reach Fanjove Private Island. Check-in and relax, you deserve it. We'll have a very short informative meeting to give you all the necessary information on the island and the activities with which you can spice up your exclusive, Eco-friendly stay. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 7-Fanjove Private Island     B/L/D

Free day at leisure on Fanjove Private Island.

 The sun, the crystal blue water, fishes and birds and a whole island to yourself, what else do we need in life? Here you could learn how life would be without shoes! Oh, so comfortable! All meals and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 8-Fanjove Private Island     B/L/D

Free day at leisure on Fanjove Private Island. All meals and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 9-Fanjove Private Island-Dar es Salaam     B

Enjoy morning at leisure.  At noon we'll board our plane  for an hours' flight to Dar es Salaam airport and end our unforgettable journey.

We will assist you with check-in for your onward flight from Dar es Salaam.
