The bay of Naples

 

 

DAY 1:  Florence airport - Orvieto - Monte Cassino - Naples  (L/D)

After a morning arrival in Florence’s airport and after the customs formalities you will drive to Orvieto followed by a stop in this Renaissance - Etruscan gem. You’ll take the city funicular to reach te historic centre with the cathedral in this picturesque medieval town, famous for good wine and skilful potters. Continue the way towards Monte Cassino with a short break for lunch. Early in the afternoon a visit to the monastery of Monte Cassino, the scene of a terrible battle in World War II. After the visit transfer to the hotel in Naples. Dinner in a local restaurant, hotel check-in and overnight.

 

DAY 2: Naples - Sorrento - Positano - Amalfi - Salerno   (B/L/D)

After an early breakfast, you’ll start with the tour of Naples: from the city center to the magnificent Castel Nuovo stronghold and on to the former royal palace of Palazzo Reale, through Piazza Plebiscito and an impressive gallery of the Royal Theatre Teatro San Carlo ... followed by a walk along the famous Toledo street and continuing southward of the Gulf of Naples. Driving through the picturesque Sorrento Peninsula with stops in Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, after which the coast got its name. Transfer to the hotel near Salerno, check-in, dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 3: Pompeii - Vesuvius - Ischia   (B/L/D)

Morning drive to Pompeii, under the mighty Mount Vesuvius. A violent eruption of the volcano in the year AD 79, made this thriving city of Pompeii completely blanketed with ash and so preserving an amazing testimony to the then civilization. You will visit an extensive park with the remains of the city, which was destroyed by the lava. After the visit to Pompeii, you will be headed to the top of Mt. Vesuvius and meet the mighty volcano up close an personal. Descend back to Naples, lunch, followed by a short drive to the port taking the ferry to the island of Ischia. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4: Ischia - Fiuggi / Frascati   (B/L/D)

After breakfast, tour of Ischia, a volcanic island in the Gulf of Naples, famous for its thermal springs and the healing effect of its climate. In the afternoon, a return by ferry to Naples and drive to Fuggii / Frascati. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 5: Sienna - Florence airport   (B/L)

After an early breakfast, drive to Sienna, a cradle of the Italian language and tour the city: Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Pubblico, Torre del Mangia, Palazzo Universita, Palazzo Piccolomini and the Duomo. You will have some free time for lunch and some last minute souvenir shopping, followed by a transfer back to the airport of Florence… return back to your destination.
